Dave Swindells x 'From Somerset to the World' Clarks a Visual History

The book ‘From Somerset to the World’ celebrates 200 years of Clarks’ evolution from a small Quaker family business in rural Somerset to a global cultural icon. The beautifully illustrated volume by Alexander Newman uses over 1,200 images including those from Dave Swindells archive. The book traces the brand’s journey — from early sheepskin slippers to landmark styles like the Desert Boot and Wallabee — and shows how Clarks became woven into subcultures worldwide.

Leigh Bowery! Tate Modern (closes on 31.08.25)

The Leigh Bowery! retrospective exhibition is now in it’s closing week, after a successful six month tenure at the Tate Modern in London. An immersive journey into the life and legacy of Australian-born performance artist, designer and club provocateur Leigh Bowery (1961 - 1994).

The below gallery shows several pages from the accompanying extensive exhibition book. Featuring images from Dave Swindells’s archive (Time Out Club Editor from 1986 - 2001) along with Derek Ridgers club archive.

Both Dave and Derek photographed London’s diverse and rich club culture during the 1980’s, notably the infamous and decadent club hosted by Leigh Bowery ‘Taboo’ where defiant outrageousness challenged conservative norms and the crowd that frequented it became legendary.

Shane Taylor x Art in Mayfair Photo Walk '24

Shane Taylor will be hosting his second photo-walk exclusively for Art in Mayfair on Friday 21st June, 11.00 – 13.00.

The masterclass-style photo-walk will follow this year’s Art in Mayfair Sculpture Trail and explore street-photo opportunities around Mayfair, including some of Shane’s favourite and most photographed streets.

Shane will be happy to chat and offer photography advice along the walk.
